What is GAA
Québec's Automobile Insurance Act, adopted in 1978, makes a clear distinction between compensation for bodily injury and compensation for property damage.
For this reason, the province created the Société d'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), the government corporation that handles injury compensation. The province also created the Groupement des assureurs automobiles (GAA), entrusting it with specific responsibilities related to property damage compensation.
What is an appraisal center ?
Under the Automobile Insurance Act, the GAA has also created a network of appraisal centers, which are subject to its standards, procedures, and regulatory measures. The goal is to keep premiums reasonable, and to minimize compensation costs by using precise and professional appraisal techniques.
